Started over ten years ago by Sherman A. Carlson, S.A. CARLSON, INC. has become an integral part of the industrial food ingredient business. Their many satisfied customers tell them they have come to rely on S.A. CARLSON'S ability to consistently supply excellent product quality and service.
Sherman A. Carlson has nearly 40 years of experience in the Industrial Food Ingredient Industry. Sherm is well known and respected by key people in the food industry and he knows how the system works. He has a technical background and understands the function of ingredients. He has had a great deal of experience in management of both large and medium sized companies and has experience as an entrepreneur having started two substantial companies of his own.
Education
Sherm Carlson began his career as a Journeyman Baker. He graduated from the American Institute of Baking where he received technical training in the baking industry. During that time he also worked in quality control for a major bakery supply company. Sherm received his Bachelor's Degree in Sales and Marketing from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He is a professional member of the Institute of Food Technologists.
Experience
Sherm spent five years in the industry
in technical sales with Valley Evaporating Company in Yakima,
Washington. He moved to Tree Top, Inc., a young corporation at
the time, where he built their Industrial Sales Division from
the ground up. He sold not only dehydrated fruits, but also millions
of gallons of apple, pear and other fruit juice concentrates to
the world's largest buyers. During his eighteen years with Tree
Top, Inc., Sherm, as Vice President of Sales and Marketing,
developed the juice concentrate and dehydrated apple division
into a performance of well over $60 million annually. He was involved in the successful acquisition and of several processing businesses during this time.
After a
year as Executive Vice President with Clermont, Inc. of Hillsboro,
Oregon, (a juice and puree concentrate processor), he and several
other former Tree Top executives formed Cascade Fruit Products,
Inc. Three years later they sold their equipment and technology
to another processor. Sherm then formed S.A. Carlson, Inc. (an independent Sales and Marketing organization).
During Sherm's career, he has traveled extensively throughout the world, including North and South America, Europe and Asia, working with world concentrate and dehydrated fruit buyers and visiting numerous processing plants. He has worked effectively with research and development, production and purchasing personnel at various levels to develop new products and solve problems.
